This innovative on-line learning resource is provided for the use of all our staff and offers access to practical support and guidance for dealing with everyday work-based challenges, improving your performance and supporting your personal development. Our people are our key resource, and as such, at the University of Liverpool we understand the importance of attracting and retaining staff with the skills and knowledge to support our priorities by offering them an environment in which they can learn and develop. With this in mind, we aim to provide you with the highest level of professional support. This resource is in addition to the on-going range of courses and workshops that we offer our staff, available to view under 'Learning & Development Centre' on the left-hand menu.

The Toolkit is continually being developed and we welcome your help in tailoring it as much as possible to meet your needs. Any offers of resources and information for uploading that you think will be beneficial to colleagues, then please contact us by clicking on the Feedback link above.

Periodically, we will be delivering a Toolkit Topic, which will be highlighted through the University Announcements, dealing with current events and issues incorporating links to guide you to relevant areas of the Professional Development Toolkit

The toolkit resources are presented in topics which are sub-divided into key themes to help you navigate through the various aspects of the topic area so that you can quickly find relevant content. Each theme contains a range of resources in two categories:

  • Knowing (Theory) - leading thinking, concepts, general articles and examples of good practice to build your understanding of a subject; and
  • Doing (Practice) - practical tools to support the application of knowledge in the workplace

To access the resources, simply select a topic from the list on the left and choose which topic you would like to know more about. Alternatively, if you’re looking for something specific, use the search function at the top of the page.
